Pupil Premium
What is Pupil Premium funding?
Pupil Premium funding is additional government support for schools to help children who may face barriers to learning. Its purpose is to ensure every pupil has the opportunity to achieve their full potential, regardless of background or circumstance.
This funding is available for pupils who are eligible for free school meals (currently or at any point in the last six years), children who are looked after by the local authority or have previously been in care, and children of armed service personnel. For the 2025–2026 financial year, schools receive £1,515 per eligible pupil, while Looked After Children (LAC) or Previously Looked After Children receive £2,630 per pupil (paid to local authorities for LAC and directly to schools for previously LAC). At our school, 51 pupils (41% of the school population) currently receive Pupil Premium funding.
The Department for Education (DfE) requires schools to produce a three-year Pupil Premium Strategy. Our strategy sets out how funding is used to support learning, wellbeing, and enrichment, and is informed by past outcomes and current pupil assessments. It forms part of our School Improvement Plan (SIP), developed each September by the leadership team, and is monitored throughout the year to ensure effectiveness. Spending is reviewed annually and adjusted as necessary based on updated school census information. Our approach is guided by evidence from the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) to ensure it has the greatest possible impact.
We review our Pupil Premium strategy regularly, tracking pupils’ progress, attendance, and wellbeing. Feedback from staff, pupils, and families helps us refine support so it remains effective and responsive to individual needs.
We also encourage all eligible families to apply for free school meals. This registration is confidential and helps the school access additional funding to support learning and enrichment. Families needing assistance with applications or eligibility questions are welcome to contact the school office or visit Free School Meals - Together for Children for further information.
Our school is committed to transparency and compliance with DfE requirements. We publish our Pupil Premium strategy and update it annually to show how funding is allocated and the difference it makes to pupils’ achievement.

Please see below our Pupil Premium Strategy for 2025-2028.
Catch Up Funding
This document outlines the catch-up funding the school received during the COVID-19 pandemic, which was allocated to support pupils in addressing learning gaps caused by periods of disruption. It explains how the funding was used to help pupils recover academically, improve wellbeing, and re-engage with learning following school closures and other challenges experienced during this time.
