Miss Forrest had a special sound box, we were introduced to the different items in the box then we had to guess what item made that particular sound it was so much fun! We then got the opportunity to make our own sound shakers using various materials.. we then listened to the different sounds they made loud sounds, quiet sounds! We had a great week in our phonics!.

Autumn Fun!!

Autumn is upon us here in Nursery! We have been doing lots of activities surrounding this lovely season! We have been making hedgehogs out of playdough some of us have been making hedgehogs out of pinecones. To end our lovely topic about Autumn we decided to make some hedgehog bread! We put our aprons on and made sure our hands were nice and clean, we poured the flour into a bowl we talked about how it felt and what we could smell.. We then added some water and took it in turns to mix the ingredients together, we then moulded the mixture with our hands into a shape of a hedgehog using a fork to make the prickles.. Once the bread was all baked we then each got the opportunity to spread a topping on, some of us chose jam, butter or marmalade .. we then got to sit with our friends and enjoy our delicious hedgehog bread.. take a look at how much fun we had!!...

Funny bones Maths

What a spooktacular time we have had in Nursery over the last couple of weeks in our Maths. We have been using the 'big skeleton' from the Funny bones story to first of all compare two groups of objects, saying when they have the same number and then making comparisons between quantities to help us identify how many are in a set.  We were super at counting and comparing sets.

Making Patterns

This week in nursery we have been making patterns.  Using lots of colours we created our own Elmer the patchwork elephant. To help create our patterned Elmer we rolled a dice counted the spots and then counted out the corresponding number of patches.  We talked about the different colours we used and could see.  Look at our amazing colourful patterned patchwork Elmer.

We were also able to distinguish the bears by their colour and talk about how they are different.

Counting Conkers

It is autumn time in nursery.  We have been using some of our autumn resources to help with our number recognition and to help practice our counting skills. First we used our autumn leaves to help recognise the number then select the correct amount of conkers to match 1:1.  We started with numbers to 5 and some of us were able to work with numbers to 10. Next we rolled a dice and counted the number of spots on the dice and place the corresponding number of spikes onto the hedgehog.  We thoroughly enjoyed counting the   conkers and giving the hedgehogs some spikes We are all super counters!
