 'Once Upon a Time and Into The Woods'

The 5 r's

As part of our Personal, Social and Emotional Development during circle time we have begun to learn about our 5 R's. This week we were introduced to the monkey. He represents 'R' for risk-taking and trying something new that you haven't tried before or something you were a little unsure of.The monkey helps us to be brave! Each day we all take risks and feel proud when we succeed.We talked about what sort of risks we take in nursery within our learning time and how we have all tried something new since we started nursery in September. Well done Nursery! 

5r's The Elephant

We continued our learning of the 5'rs this week in circle time this week we focused on the elephant  we learnt that he represents R for Relationships! We each got a turn to hold the elephant and talk about what makes us a good friend to others in Nursery, we gave some great answers such as we share with our friends, we take turns, we look after each other, we are kind and how we help each other, we are such good friends in Nursery!!  

We can move our bodys to an instrument or music

In phonics this week blue group have been moving their bodies to respond to an instrument or a piece of music, The children decided which instrument matched which body action and they all got a turn to play the instrument and the other children had to move and do a body action such as jumping, hopping walking etc, The children really enjoyed using their listening skills to listen to a piece of music and then move their bodies and make the correct body action. Well done blue group!  

All About Chinese New Year!

To continue our learning of Chinese New Year we decided at circle time we would look at different objects that were linked to Chinese New Year, we talked about the Chinese celebration and we compared it  to our very own New Year! We looked at some lovely items we got to try on some lovely Chinese clothing, we looked at different decorations they hang up in their homes, we even got to hold a dancing dragon! We also found out that at Chinese New Year people especially children receive red envelopes with money inside and that is to bring good luck! We really enjoyed learning about Chinese New Year!

For That Someone Special...

We have been very busy in Nursery making cards for that someone special in our lives! We made a butterfly or a plant pot with flowers using our hands and adding different materials to them to make them extra special. We all done a fantastic job and hope our special someone liked them! Professor Nitrate 

We had a very special visitor in School called Professor Nitrate and Nursery and Reception were given the opportunity to experience different science experiments! We learnt things such as fire heat and fuel, and some of us got to actually take part in the fun experiments,Take a look at our fun science morning!!  

Easter Bonnet Parade

The children have been working very hard on practicing the words and actions for our special Easter Bonnet Parade. The children did a fantastic job at singing and dancing to the Easter songs we are all so proud of them for been so brave at performing in front of their grown ups and they all looked fantastic in their super Easter Bonnets. massive well done Nursery..  

Nursery's Easter Cards 

We have been working really hard over the last couple of weeks creating our special Easter cards for our grown up's. some of us made Easter bunnies and some of us made Easter chicks, we used lots of different materials to make our cards look creative and colorful we are really proud of them. Welcome to Nursery!

We would like to wish a warm welcome to our new nursery starters who joined us this week. We are extremely proud of them they have had a great first week! Learning new routines and making new friends. They were awarded a special certificate congratulating them on a fabulous first week. Well done to all of them!

We can identify human noises!

This week in our phonics we have been identifying different human noises, We got involved in lots of different activities such as listening to the noises and guessing what they were, going on a human noise hunt, and many more. We had so much fun our listening skills are getting better and better!

5R'S The Beaver!

This week in circle time, the nursery children have been learning about another one of our 5 r's The Beaver! The children learnt that the beaver stands for resourcefulness, the beaver helps the children to be creative and be imaginative in their learning time,how to think to make or do things and how to show it to their  friends, the children thought how they had been creative this week in nursery and gave some great answers. Well done Nursery!   

Once Upon a Time! .

Here in Nursery we had a great Spring term 1, we learnt all about Traditional Tales! We were involved in a number of activities over the weeks such as listening to different traditional stories,getting dressed up as different characters and recreating different stories! some of us painted our favorite character. We even made some traditional characters out of play dough! We really enjoyed our homework task of creating a traditional tale character using different types of materials we came up with some great creations! take a look at our exciting term in Nursery!   

All About The Gruffalo!

To kick start of our Spring term 2 topic Into The Woods we decided to look at the story of The Gruffalo. We enjoyed many activities surrounding the story such as recreating the story in our role play area, some us painted different characters from the story,we enjoyed making The Gruffalo out of play dough and to end our theme we even did a little dance about The Gruffalo we all had such a great time! take a look at the different activities we have been involved in over the last couple of weeks!.

Here Come The Chicks!!

We had a very special delivery in Nursery!! We went to reception to see what it could be! when we got there we were surprised to see some eggs in a incubator. We were all guessing what these eggs could be! After a couple of days we got the best surprise as some baby chicks had hatched from the eggs!! We were all so excited to see them and take care of them! Watch this space...

Nursery's Super Science Morning!

After our special visit from Professor Nitrate we thought we would make our own science experiments we teamed up with reception and formed three groups we all took it in turns to experience the different experiments. We all had great fun planting cress seeds we will be observing those over the next week so watch this space for the end results! we got to make patterns using skittles. and finally we got to make colorful rain clouds in glass jars they looked great! Take a look at our fab science morning we all had a fun time!

Snow Day!

We were all very excited to see that it had snowed! We popped on our wellies and our warm clothing and decided to have some fun in the snow. We pulled our friends around in the sledge, talked about how the snow felt and had some great fun. We loved the snow.

5r's The Fox

This week in our circle time we focused on The Fox he represents R for Reflection! We learnt that the fox helps us to think about what we have done in our child initiated learning time and how we could change our ideas or make them better! We are looking forward to next week to find out what animal we will be learning about next!

Internet Safety Day!

It was internet safety day here at Blackfell Primary school,and we were very interested to find out what it was all about! We gathered on the carpet to listen to a story about Little Red Riding Hood, we talked about how you are not to speak to strangers on the internet and to always have our grown ups with us if we are playing on our computers or i pads. We enjoyed learning on how to keep safe if playing on i pads or computers. Well done Nursery!

Chinese New Year!!

Year of the Dog!

Happy Chinese New Year everyone! Here in Nursery it has been Chinese New Year and we have been celebrating by getting involved with lots of different activities! We found out that it was the year of the dog! and for our homework we had to create our own dog by drawing or making it with different materials! We are so proud of our creations! Some of us have been making Chinese dragons out of play dough some of us chose to make Chinese dragons in the creative area using plastic cups and different co loured paper! we also got busy making some delicious Chinese food in the role play area. we have had a great first week back learning all about Chinese New Year! 

The Penguin- Resilience! 

To end our learning about the 5R'S at Blackfell Primary School we decided to look at the penguin and find out how he helps us in our learning time at Nursery! We found out that the penguin teaches us resilience and he helps us to have a go at different activities, and to keep on trying till we have achieved what we wanted to do! We are already showing resilience in Nursery and we will continue to do so in our Blackfell Primary journey! 

 Nine Little Chicks!

Nine Little Chicks were in our Nursery and Reception and we were so very excited to meet them!! We all got a chance to hold a chick or have it beside us. We talked about how they felt on our hands and what they looked like.We really enjoyed the chicks been with us and also enjoyed looking after and caring for them. Take a look at our lovely fluffy chicks. 

Easter Bonnets!!

What an exciting morning it was in Nursery it was our Easter Bonnet Parade and we came into Nursery with our bonnets we had made at home with our grown ups.We had all worked very hard creating our Easter bonnets and we were very proud of them!! Miss Baharie and Miss Forrest would like to thank all parents and carers for there support in creating these fantastic Easter bonnets so creative and original.
