Welcome to Year 6's Autumn Term 2015

Archery

Year 6 really enjoyed their archery lesson.  Fantastic shot!

WW2 Cars

A big thank you to Mr. Carr who very kindly brought in his collection of WW2 memorabilia including two authentic vehicles.  Year 6 had a fantastic time learning and talking about them.  Mr. Barrass loved it!

Christmas Party

We had great fun at our Christmas party!

Gymnastic Lessons

Mr. Barrass and the gymnastics coach have really tested our skills during our P.E lesson this term.

World War Two Boot Camp

As we are studying World War Two as our topic this term, we signed up for basic army training 1940s style.  Fitness and endurance were tested with a range of fun activities: marching drills, push-ups, sit-ups, boxing, an obstacle course and tug of war.  Mr. Barrass was exhausted!

Anti-Bullying Week

As part of our work during anti-bullying week, we watched videos and talked about how to stay safe on line. We worked together to design some fantastic, eye catching and informative posters and leaflets to help raise the awareness of e-safety in school. We discussed the issue of cyberbullying and how to be respectful to others online. We also enjoyed an assembly which made the children think about this issue and what strategies we can use to combat bullying.

Nissan

On Monday 28th September, Year 6 visited Nissan. We had a tour of the training facilities, created lego cars in an assembly line and even tried out a range of jobs that the Nissan workers do on a daily basis!  We had a great day finding out about manufacturing and testing our team work skills.  Well done toAmy Middlemiss who won the logo design competition.

Maths Week

On November 5th, we had a great time working with different teachers across school.  We had a range of different maths challenges to complete: making rockets, investigating fireworks mathematically, solving sequence puzzles and using our knowledge of direction to create algorithms in computing.

That week, we were also set our sponsored times table challenge; we all improved with the recall of the multiplication and division questions that were set!
