Year 6 Spring Term
Safety Works
During our visit to Safety Works in Newcastle, we were shown how to stafe safe in a range of different situations: we were able to identify dangers in the kitchen; investigate fire hazards in the bedroom and living room; look at the dangers on the Metro and we even had the chance to dress up as a policeman and help him to catch a thief!
Ancient Greek Assembly
During Creative Week, Year 6 completed a piece of drama on the Greeks; this was included in our class assembly. We were also able to showcase our learning to the parents through storytelling, singing and dancing. We also enjoyed sharing facts about our history topic and displaying our stories and art work.
Bowes Museum
On the 29th February, Year 6 visited Bowes Museum to look at their wonderful artefacts and participate in the workshops that they offer. We had a great time hearing myths; creating Greek monsters; making fantastic clay models and exploring the grounds around the museum.
Fireworks and Volcanoes
Because our theme for Creative Week was 'The Firework Maker’s Daughte,' we had the opportunity to investigate volcanoes and fireworks. We learned all about chemical/physical reactions. It was great fun!
Newcastle University
As part of our Creative Week, Year 6 visited Newcastle University where they had the opportunity to explore university life, tour the campus and work with university students to complete a range of different educational tasks. We had a great time!
Mythical Creature Paintings
As out topic this term is Ancient Greece, we have created brilliant Greek myths and super art work. Take a look at our fantastic paintings.
