Family Learning - Spring Overview
Wow! Spring terms Family Learning group have been super busy with all of their activities and learning.
Week 1 – Time capsule Booklet
We worked as a family to complete our Time capsule booklet for 2021.
We interviewed our family members, and completed lots of activities together. We worked really hard completing the booklet, decorating the box and deciding when we would open it in the future.
Week 2 – 2d 3d Shape Decorating a memory box.
We were able to look at different 2d and 3d shapes and know their properties and names. We completed a shape hunt and made a 2d shape into a 3dshape (pineapple gift box). Some of us planned and decorated our Lockdown 2021 memory box.
Week3 – Balloon rockets- crochet
We had a lot of fun this week, we carried out a number of experiments including balloon rockets, where we had to measure distance and time. We also completed lots of rocket based activities. Some of us started to learn how to crochet, it was quite difficult to start with. However, some of us found it easy and really enjoyed developing this new traditional skill.
Week 4 – Space Science – Twig hearts
This week we looked at different aspects of space science and even had a visitor from Star Wars. We learnt about the stars and constellations, researched the planets and found out lots of interesting facts. We also learnt about mnemonics, this was really interesting as it was planet based. Some of us made twig hearts and other items.
Week 5 – Cooking
This week we made a curry from scratch! We tried mandarin and red lentil curry, using ingredients, herbs, spices, garlic, red lentils and mandarins. It was great to make but a little bit too hot for some of us.
Week 6- Flight and Forces – Decorating a watering can and upcycling a plant pot and planting seeds
This week we looked at flight and how different shaped aeroplanes flew at different speeds. We made lots of different aeroplanes and also completed activities about forces.
Some of us were creative and designed and decorated a zinc watering can. We also learned about upcycling and made a plant pot and planted some parsley seeds.
